Jane, I'm retiring my old Rowenta Steam Generator to make room for this baby. Earlier this summer I must have set the hot sole plate of the iron slightly off of the resting pad and it MELTED a huge hole in the outer case. I was afraid to use it for a while but it doesn't seem to have affected the performance. Still, it makes me a little nervous and, since this happened just after attending Pamela's t-shirt workshop where she spoke so highly of Reliable's irons, I decided it was time to make the move. Also, my Rowenta had been showing early signs of failure so I knew it would only be a matter of time. I've been waiting to use up the current tank of water in the Rowenta before I made the switch -- it's taken almost two months which shows you how little sewing I'm getting done this summer. One note: the footprint of the Reliable is larger than the Rowenta.

I am definitely jealous. I've dropped the iron to my Rowenta steam generator a few times this summer so perhaps this one will be on my Christmas list.

A new toy is always fun. Hope you two pair for many new projects together.
